I am honored to be elected as the President for the period 2007-09.
Ever since the inception of HKITJC 10 years back in 1996, we have been actively serving the Hong Kong I.T. Sector at a strategic level. Noticeably, we initiated the lobbying work with the Government leading to the establishment of the I.T. Functional Constituency in the Legislative Council; we led a research team to study the position of HK I.T, industry in the Pearl River Delta region and proposed the concept of "Technology CEPA", which has been incorporated in different Government documents; we actively participated in discussions on IT development in Hong Kong under The Eleventh Five-Year Plan of our Motherland; plus many others.
The aforementioned achievements are indubitably substantial. They are difficult for me to match during my term of office. Nevertheless, I will try my very best to up-keep, if not strengthen, the momentum. Advices of our past presidents are invaluable in formulating my missions. I shall take advantage of the expertise of my fellow members, who are present or past chair-persons of different HK I.T. associations, to establish HKITJC as an unofficial advisory channel for the HK IT Sector, including academic, industry and Government, and in particular, on China affairs. HKITJC will focus on matters related to local IT development as well as its impact to Shenzhen city, Guandong province, Pearl River Delta region, and the Nation, making Hong Kong a key IT hub in China.
May 2007 marks the start of a new decade for HKITJC. I foresee many challenges ahead of me; yet I am confident that with the support of my fellow members, together we can handle them comfortably. For this reason, I would like to take this opportunity to thank them in advance. I am also very grateful to my predecessors for their unfailing support and am sure that they will continue to stand by me during, as well as beyond, my presidency.
I am looking forward to working with you all for the betterment of
Hong Kong.
Yours,

Professor Kam-Fai WONG
President 2007-2009
